Gynecology (GYN) procedures and surgeries are used to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions that affect a women’s reproductive system, which includes the vagina, uterus, ovaries, cervix and the fallopian tubes. Adhesiolysis

This procedure removes scar tissue, or adhesions, that could be contributing to infertility, pelvic pain and other conditions.

Cervical Biopsy

In this procedure, your GYN surgeon removes a small sample of your cervical tissue to test for the presence of abnormal cells, precancerous conditions or cervical cancer.

Colposcopy

A colposcopy is a short exam performed in a gynecologist’s office to examine a woman’s vagina, cervix and vulva.

Dilation and Curettage

A dilation and curettage, often referred to as a D&C, is a surgical procedure that’s used for diagnosis of or therapy for abnormal or excessive bleeding of the uterus.

Endometrial Ablation

This procedure removes or destroys the endometrial lining of the uterus. It is commonly used to treat heavy or long periods.

Endometrial/Uterine Biopsy

In this procedure, small samples of the endometrial lining of the uterus are removed to test for cancer and other conditions.

Hysterectomy

A hysterectomy is a surgery performed to remove the uterus.

Hysterscopy

In this procedure, a thin, lighted tube is inserted into and through your vagina to examine the inside of your uterus and cervix.
